Local Majorcan Food

Hi, there!!

How are you? I think that all of us returned to the boring reality. In Poland we say “Święta, święta i po świętach”. This sentence means that we are preparing a very long time for Easter and then everything happens in one second. This is the sad truth but on the other hand during this preparation we always spend a lot of time with the family . I love this time!! :-)

In this post I want to focus only on the local food from Mallorca. At the beginning, I have to underline that the “Mallorquin” dishes contain usually local almonds, olives, walnuts, but what is the most characteristic on the meals of Mallorca are tomatos called Ramallet which are native to the island.

Ensaimada

Typical breakfast in Mallorca includes an ensaimada what is a delicious spiral yeast bun dusted with icing sugar. The local people say that make it off the island are never successful because it is impossible to do ensaimada without “the sea air” from Mallorca. All tourist come back to home with this delicious spiral!

Fideua

Another great majorcan dish is a type of paella called fideua. The mallorquin paella is made with noodles rather than rice. Every day all restaurants are serving this popular meals.

Okey, in the end of this post I would like to recommend the Mediterranean Diet. I firmly believe that this is a healthiest diet in the word!

See you later,
Kamila

Spanish dishes

Hello My Dear Readers!!
How are you? So, as I wrote in last post, I have to catch up on writing a new messages. Today, I would like to change a little bit a topic of my blog.  Now I will tell you about something that everyone wants to know which is Spanish dishes. In this post, I don’t want to focus only on  the local food of Mallorca because food is as integral to all Spain as its rich history. I choose only 3 dishes that in my opinion every tourist should know:

Paella
This delicious dish is well know internationally. There are lots of types of paella, but the three best know are:  paella valenciana, paella de marisco and paella mixta. The traditional version of paella it’s paella valenciana: rice, rabbit or chicken, white and green beans, vegetables.  The next version of this tasty rice- dish is paella de mariscos: rice, calamari, clams, mussels, fish, prawns. The last type is paella mixta, as the name says, is composed of paella valenciana and paella de marisco.

Gazpacho
Gazpacho is a tpically drink in summer. This cold soup made with cucumber, onion, garlic, olive oil and tomato is well know in all the word.

Tortilla
This delicious dish we can give a name Spanish omelette made with eggs, potatoes, onions and olive oil. It is a great starter for breakfast and a lot of Spaniards couldn’t imagine a week without tortilla.

In my point of view Spanish cuisine is rich of many flavors, but we have to remember that in all dishes can be the olive oil. I'm fan of paella :-) I can eat this delicious dish every day!

See you later,

Kamila
