Local Majorcan Food

Hi, there!!

How are you? I think that all of us returned to the boring reality. In Poland we say “Święta, święta i po świętach”. This sentence means that we are preparing a very long time for Easter and then everything happens in one second. This is the sad truth but on the other hand during this preparation we always spend a lot of time with the family . I love this time!! :-)

In this post I want to focus only on the local food from Mallorca. At the beginning, I have to underline that the “Mallorquin” dishes contain usually local almonds, olives, walnuts, but what is the most characteristic on the meals of Mallorca are tomatos called Ramallet which are native to the island.

Ensaimada

Typical breakfast in Mallorca includes an ensaimada what is a delicious spiral yeast bun dusted with icing sugar. The local people say that make it off the island are never successful because it is impossible to do ensaimada without “the sea air” from Mallorca. All tourist come back to home with this delicious spiral!

Fideua

Another great majorcan dish is a type of paella called fideua. The mallorquin paella is made with noodles rather than rice. Every day all restaurants are serving this popular meals.

Okey, in the end of this post I would like to recommend the Mediterranean Diet. I firmly believe that this is a healthiest diet in the word!

See you later,
Kamila

  1. The spiral bun looks delicious, but the dish is probably seafood, isn't it? If so, I'd rather keep busy with ensaimada :)
